MUSEUM OF LATIN AMERICAN ART - LONG BEACH, CA

This challenging audio design sets a standard for ease of operation, custom speaker application and first class quality on a Non-Profit budget.

The system utilizes custom painted Renkus-Heinz TRX series speakers. The mounting and custom painting assist in blending the units into the architectural theme while maintaining correct acoustic dispersion.

Since the facility is used as a corporate event location, extreme care was taken to maintain a +/-3dB coverage for the entire 15,000 square foot public space. Music levels of 100dB or more are easily sustainable for any type of playback material.

Powered by QSC CX series amplifiers and processed via 2 EAW DX-810 digital DSP's, the system provides seamless transition between point source audio for speeches, LCR live music presentations (with custom painted dual 15" Renkus-Heinz subwoofers) and even 5.1 Surround to complement the 26 foot wide 16:9 video screen.

Custom interfacing and DSP programming allow a minimally trained staff to operate a dedicated DVD player and present 5.1 audio playback without ever touching the FOH console!

Other unique technical aspects of the project includes custom stage speaker snakes and custom patch locations on stage. We have estimated that a two person staff can prepare the stage for a typical live performance event in less than ten minutes!

The FOH location provides just enough space for an Allen & Heath GL-2800 audio console and a Leprecon LP-1524 DMX console. FOH is also complimented with an accessory rack that includes multi-channel effects / reverb, DBX comp-limiters and an array of Shure Beta 58 wireless receivers.

House lighting control (and energy management) is also provide by Leprecon via two LWD2400 12 x 2.4k dimmers and are operated via Litescape wall stations.

Another prime example of why "RD" is the expert in specialty audio and lighting control application. This museum facility will certainly become "the place" to hold First class events in Long Beach.
