Levity Live – West Nyack, NY
From the legacy of Gotham Comedy club in New York, this facility will prove to be a great venue to see some of the funniest comedians in the world. Retrofit in a previous boutique digital cinema space, the room was already designed to have incredible acoustic properties and great sight lines.
The main audio system was a simple but very effective combination of four JBL PRX-612 self powered speakers and two JBL ASB6112 subwoofers, all flown on custom hardware. Two additional JBL ASB6112 subwoofers are tucked into custom compartments beneath the stage. Four JBL 29AV’s provide detailed delay fills for the rear seats. All the power is Crown. Distributed audio within the bar, VIP, green room and other back of house areas is all Crown amplifier power and JBL recessed speakers as well.
The main mix is a Soundcraft 20 channel console with an additional 12 channel sub-mix in a portable stage rack. Custom stage input boxes and snake assemblies make the performance space flexible for comedy troupe events. Two additional JBL PRX612M are kept on hand for stage monitors. These are managed at FOH with separate channels of DBX equalizers for feedback management. A Symetrix Jupiter provides excellent signal distribution and detailed control of all the main room systems.
Eight channels of AKG WMS450 wireless mics (lav, headset and handheld) are all racked, powered and distributed via one antenna.The main mic is a Shure SM58.
A Lightronics AR-1202 12 x 2.4K wall mount dimmer handles the house lighting as well as a few channels of front positions. Overhead on the stage are sixteen Chauvet Slim Par Pro RGBA LED fixtures and six VW versions. The ballyhoo is handled incredibly well by a large number of oscillating LED 3 watt pin spots. Simple control is accomplished via an Elation Show Designer 1.
Video distribution for the bar, VIP and back of house locations is all Cat5e with Intelix baluns. Vizio 42” and 50” displays handle the output. Several locations provide for additional inputs via custom input plates.
Then main showroom video is a Draper 200” diagonal electric screen and Sanyo 6k Lumen projector for preshow presentations. Video recording is done with a Sony HD pan & tilt camera and Sony recording gear. Additional inputs are provided in house, stage and booth locations.
